Hey there! I’m Robert Schulz—thank you for stopping by my site. Let me share a bit about how Super Mushroom Bros. began and where the journey has taken me.
In late 2019, I was listening to podcasts while remodeling homes, and it struck me that I could combine my experience in contracting and my love for mushrooms to build something entirely of my own. I immersed myself in the fascinating world of gourmet mushroom cultivation, and to my delight, I discovered a thriving cottage industry driven by passionate growers whose ingenuity shaped the incredible community we have today. sales to bring this dream to life
: a mushroom farm from the ground up.. One of the most fulfilling things at the beginning was watching other growers innovations. To be able to take from their ingenuity and then create and craft tools in a do it yourself fashion was hugely fun and validating. all the little odd jobs from my past began led to me being competent and confident enough to take on this new challenge. I started with no knowledge of mushrooms and had no restaurant or market connections so this was a realm I felt comfortable in undertaking. Learning to grow on the job and building clientele pushed me away from my comfort zone and allowed for growth and evolution in confidence. Farmer's Markets were a huge reason for the initial viability of my business and really made me appreciate the impact "buying local" has for small business. I also got to meet many of our local farmers and have made some great friendships. I love being able to get to do business with local chefs and feel proud to be a part of their process. Charleston is a restaurant town and to know that my mushrooms are being used by some of the best chefs in the country is unbelievable.
None of this would’ve been possible without modern tools like podcasts and YouTube, which opened up doors I hadn’t even known existed. Through this venture, I’ve found a renewed sense of purpose and have become deeply connected to Charleston’s vibrant community, sharing my mushrooms at local farmers’ markets and working with amazing restaurants across the city.This journey has been exciting, fulfilling, and a lot of fun.
